What is Ghetto Job

 Ghetto job is  a place where you never dreamed of you would ever be at.
 We all have hopes and dreams when we are young. We all have aspirations of becoming successful in love, work, family and creating a home.

 We all have dreams. Sometimes we must suffer and make sacrifices so we can reach our goals and dreams. We are forced at times to take jobs or deal with situations that were never in the cards for us and we keep trudging forward in hopes that one day things will change.

At ghetto job we have the core characters all who have a dream that they are relentlessly pursuing. In Ghetto Job we see the core characters who have inspirations and dreams but have to put their dreams on hold for now and take a job like ghetto job which really tests them and pushes them to the limit.

 
 Ghetto Job is a term that defines a job that does not have the most desirable working conditions. It is about the pressure of every day just trying to get through the day. 
The Central theme and conflict of Ghetto Job is one of survival. 

The pressure to struggle to survive at a job that you never thought you would be working at but have no choice and have to deal with it. One day you feel like you are on top of the world and you are doing well...the next day you are fearing for your life and job as the Firing Squad is coming your way!


Characters:  

We have the core characters, GIO the Cuban. He has inspirations of becoming a great meringue dancer and to tour the world with his dance troupe.

We have ANNIE, the main protagonist. She has secret ambitions of becoming a great screenwriter. She is educated but she lacks self esteem and is smarter than she thinks.

We have HANK who had dreams of becoming a great chef. He failed culinary school because he would eat his creations.

There is MAMA. She just wants Annie to find happiness. Supports her daughters through all her breakups and failures. Good Mother but tends to overfeed Annie as she shows love through food.

Then there is JARED. He always wanted to become a stand up comedian and be on the late night talk show. He has sharp sarcastic wit and always has a comment. Jared did at one point almost become a chemist but because he couldn't get funding for school he ended up at a community college. His is very smart, he could easily have got his master degrees.  In the pilot we see Jared as he describes what Ghetto Job is:


 This is a great job for a manic Depressive. One day you are on top of the world (hitting your numbers) and next day You want to shake hands with the F train. 

At Ghetto Job , you are only good as your last month.
 Every day is a new challenge. 

The Training room

The Training room

This is the first day of training at ghetto-job. There are 15 people lines up to get into the training room. Anxiously waiting for the trainer to wait who is now ten minutes late.

She hands out papers and millions of forms. There is the Indian guy Sharma who has been trying to get to training after 4 tries of failing the interview.

She finally puts on a video for everyone to watch. The movie is a documentary about harassment in the workplace. So boring everyone falls asleep.

She comes int the room after an hour and finds everyone asleep.

Then they go around the room asking everyone where are they from and why they chose this job.
